What is Web3
Web3 is an internet where digital assets belong to the user. They are recorded on a blockchain, and the key to them sits in a personal wallet.
Three generations of the internet
- Web1 — websites you can only read.
- Web2 — social networks and apps: you create content, but the account and data belong to the platform.
- Web3 — assets and records on a blockchain: whoever holds the wallet key controls them.
Key words
- Blockchain — an open ledger kept by thousands of computers. An entry in it cannot be quietly changed or deleted.
- Token — a digital asset on a blockchain. It is kept in a wallet and can be sent to others.
- Wallet — an app that keeps the keys to your tokens. Telegram has one built in: Wallet.
- Seed phrase — 12 or 24 words that restore a wallet. Whoever knows them controls the wallet.

- Never share your seed phrase or codes. Purple will never ask for them.
